The Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park is a 100-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power station in Bahawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan. The renewable energy power project fueled by solar energy is named after Quaid-e-Azam, the founder of Pakistan. It is the first ever utility scale solar power plant in the country, planned to be become one of the largest in the world. Currently under construction for a capacity of 100 MW (as of December 2014) it is planned to increase it tenfold to a total of 1,000 megawatts by 2016. The project is a joint venture of the government of Punjab, Bank of Punjab and Tebian Electric Apparatus.After completion of the first 100 MW project, the government will invite investors to invest here for the 1,000 megawatts, in which several local and international companies will establish projects.
